Meet the Team
Malin Ek | M.Eng, BEMP, CPHD
Founder & Sustainability Consultant
Malin grew up in the Swedish countryside, immersed in nature and its magic. Learning about global warming at an early age, and its impacts on ecosystems and communities around the world, sparked her passion for environmental stewardship and climate action. She went on to complete a bachelor's and a master's degree in Environmental and Energy Systems Engineering at Karlstad University.
Malin's love for the outdoors brought her to British Columbia in 2015. She joined the energy and sustainability team at RDH Building Science in Vancouver, where she helped design teams implement energy and carbon reduction strategies for new and existing buildings.
In 2022, Malin founded Acorn with the mission to reduce the building sector's impact on our planet and work toward real net-zero carbon, resilient communities that nurture and connect people and the natural world.
