Meet the Team

Malin Ek | M.Eng, BEMP, CPHD

Founder & Sustainability Consultant

Malin grew up in the countryside in Sweden and have always felt connected to nature and been amazed by its magic. Learning about anthropogenic global warming at an early age and its impacts on ecosystems, communities, and economies around the world left her with a strong sense of responsibility and a drive to protect our planet. She went on to complete a bachelor's and a master's degree in Environmental and Energy Systems Engineering at Karlstad University.

Malin's love for the outdoors brought her to British Columbia in 2015. She joined the energy and sustainability team at RDH Building Science in Vancouver, where she had the opportunity to work on innovative projects that helped advance industry standards.

In 2022, Malin founded Acorn with the mission to reduce the building sector's impact on our planet and work toward real net-zero carbon, resilient buildings and communities that nurture and connect people and the natural world. Selieve we have the solutions to create a more sustainable future, and that every building is an opportunity to make a lasting difference and inspire change.
